• Email (optional): Only if you choose to provide it for session recovery purposes
• Session preferences: Your baby name preferences including gender preference, cultural backgrounds, style preferences, and other criteria
• Swipe data: Which names you like or skip within your session

Information Collected Automatically

• IP address: Used only for rate limiting to prevent abuse
• Browser type and device information: For ensuring the app works correctly on your device
• Analytics data: Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (via Google Analytics) to improve our service

Payment Information

If you purchase a premium plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your credit card numbers or payment details. We only receive confirmation of successful payments and basic transaction information (amount, date) from Stripe.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Provide and operate the Matchling service
• Generate personalized baby name suggestions based on your preferences
• Enable matching between session participants
• Send session recovery emails (only if you provided an email)
• Process payments through Stripe
• Prevent abuse and ensure fair use of our service
• Improve our service through anonymous, aggregated analytics

Data Retention and Deletion

Your session data is temporary by design. All session data, including your preferences, swipes, and matches, is automatically and permanently deleted when your session expires:

• Free sessions: 7 days
• Premium sessions: 30 days
• Premium+ sessions: 90 days
• Lifetime sessions: Never expire, but you can request deletion at any time

Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered. This is intentional - we believe your naming journey should be private and not stored indefinitely.

Data Sharing

The only parties that may have limited access to certain data are:

• Stripe: Our payment processor, who handles payment information under their own privacy policy
• Google Analytics: Receives anonymous, aggregated usage data (no personal information)
• Our hosting provider: Technical infrastructure only, with no access to user data

Cookies

We use minimal cookies necessary for the service to function:

• Session cookies: To remember your session and keep you logged in
• CSRF token: For security purposes
• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymous usage data
